Compulsive
Pattern Work

Something shifts before the behavior begins.

By the time the sequence executes, you are already elsewhere.

The work reaches the point before the sequence begins.

Something has already shifted before the behavior begins.

The pull that arrives is not the approach of a behavior. The pressure, the restlessness, the threshold — it is an activated state. That shift has already happened.

From inside that state, the negotiation appears.

"Just this once."

"I'll stop after this."

"It's already happening anyway."

The negotiation feels like a decision point. It is not coming from a neutral position. By the time those words appear, you are no longer in the state that made the decision. The sequence is already underway.

The behavior executes. Quickly.

Before the part of you that made the decision can arrive.

The pressure lifts. For now.
The state that produced it has not changed.

Afterwards, clarity returns. You can see the sequence from outside it.

What you see clearly now is not what was available during it.

The activated state that ran the sequence has discharged. A different version of you is looking at what happened.

You feel the cost. The decision gets made again. Clear, genuine, firm. The next time the same activation arrives, the same sequence runs.

The clarity you have now will not be present in that moment. The state that makes the decision is not the state that runs the sequence.

You are already gone by the time
the compulsion begins.

The decision was formed in a neutral state. The sequence runs from an activated one.

When the trigger arrives, a shift occurs first, before the decision can be involved. That shift is not the compulsion. It precedes it. By the time the compulsive sequence begins, you are no longer in the state that made the decision.

The compulsion is not the original pattern. It is the behavior the system reaches for when the activated state cannot be held. Awareness of the decision, formed in a calmer state, does not stop it. That awareness is not present in the shifted state.

The compulsion is not where the sequence starts.

The compulsive behavior is not where the sequence starts. By the time it deploys, something has already shifted.

The activation. The containment failure. The regulation attempt.

loop already running Trigger Self-shift occurs already elsewhere Cannot contain regulation sequence begins Compulsive sequence deploys Behavior executes Temporary stabilization state discharges decision present decision returns work reaches the activation layer and the regulation point

The compulsion deploys after the shift. Both layers are where the work begins.

This level applies when an underlying activation, a shift into a state that cannot be held, is producing a compulsive behavior as its regulation attempt.

The behavior is the end of a longer sequence. The work addresses the activated state that produces it and the point where containment fails.

Both levels must be reached. That is why this container requires the most time.

The assessment identifies what is producing the activation and where containment fails before the compulsive sequence begins.

  • The activated state becomes easier to remain inside without discharge.
  • The compulsive sequence becomes visible before it deploys.
  • Pressure can rise without immediately requiring behavior.
  • The decision remains available inside the state that used to remove access to it.
  • The behavior becomes separable from the need to regulate.
A compulsive pattern that remains unaddressed consolidates over time. The threshold lowers. The sequence initiates with less provocation. The range of situations where it runs expands while the underlying structure stays untouched.

The assessment identifies whether an activated state is producing the compulsive sequence and where it begins. This determines the direction of the work.

The client confirms timing of the first session.

Sessions begin weekly. The assessment is week one. The first hypnotherapy session is week two. The second is week three. From week four, hypnotherapy sessions are biweekly, with integration sessions scheduled between them.

Sessions Assessment + 15 hypnotherapy sessions + 10 integration sessions
Duration 6 to 12 months

The duration range is wider than other containers because compulsive patterns require more processing time. The pace depends on how consistently the changes hold between sessions.

Reassessment closes the container — determining whether the work is complete, whether another phase of work is necessary, or whether the client is ready to integrate independently.

This work is for high-functioning individuals with the capacity to engage identity-level material with stability. It is not appropriate for active clinical crisis, untreated severe psychiatric conditions, or active addiction without prior stabilization. Compulsive patterns connected to active substance dependency require clinical stabilization before this level of work begins.

The consultation identifies what is producing the activation, whether compulsive regulation has developed around it, and establishes the direction of the work.
